The Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) begins the third year of teaching the Degree in Agricultural Sciences and Bioeconomics with an important technological and professional innovation for its students.
The UPM and eFoodPrint have reached a collaboration agreement so that the students of the Degree incorporate in their learning the use of the professional tool eFoodPrint for the calculation of environmental indicators (water footprint and carbon footprint, efficiencies …) and the improvement of environmental sustainability in agriculture.
The use of this professional tool will allow third-year students to enter the practical level in sustainable agriculture, introducing inventories of the agronomic production process of any crop and obtaining indicators such as water footprint and carbon footprint.
The use of this environmental calculation tool for agriculture will make it easier for each student of the UPM Degree to know what the impact of each agricultural process is within the production phase and propose improvements to reduce the impacts.
Both eFoodPrint and those responsible for the UPM Degree are pleased that technological innovations present in professional agriculture begin to integrate into the training of future agricultural technicians.
